Beginning in 2009, the 11th (?) Mandate of Heaven record was recorded at More Sound Studios, with Greg Pier doing most of the engineering and tracking himself. Initial tracking was accidentally erased in May of 2010, resulting in a demoralized Pier starting over from scratch and a lengthy delay in completion of the album, exacerbated by Pier's decision in 2010 to return to school to become a paramedic. Many of the songs on this record exist in other forms on demos and other records. Pier began writing some of these songs, such as "if 20" and "Song of the Halfway Point" as far back as 1999. The production quality and performances are the best out of any MofH recording, reflecting months and months of careful tweaking of the mix and rearrangement of the songs themselves, as opposed to the raw, "lo-fi" approach used in previous recordings. John Hanus of ELEPHANT MOUNTAIN is featured playing slide guitar on a number of tracks.
